How Can We Record The Growth Patterns Of A Lead-Plant?

Lead-Plant (Amorpha canescens), whitened with hoary down provides a lovely low-shrubby symphony in gray and purple with its small deep violet flowers crowded in dense clustered woolly terminal spikes. This is ir perennial reproducing by seeds which are contained in the small fuzzy pod which replaces the gay-hued blossoms as time passes.

Taller, perhaps to three feet or so, and erect in large clumps . of pinnate-leaved stout stems is the Astralagus canescens. Its flowers, a greenish-tinged light yellow color, are very numerous and are borne in long dense spikes forming a bold splash of color. Individual florets somewhat resemble small sweet-pea blossoms. Seeds are contained in brown two-celled pods about half an inch long. Each pod will split along a clearly marked line to release the seeds when ripened and dry. This is also a perennial.
